Chapter Seven
Duncan reached out to Omar while the siblings—correction, step-siblings—still slumbered on the murphy bed, both obvious to his inner turmoil. After the events of the night before, he let the guy take the morning off and requested he be there by lunch. Once he ended the call, Duncan grabbed a shower. His soap removed all traces from his night of debauchery with Enzo and Bella like it had never happened. He was sticking to his guns. He had to tell them the truth. When they realized his transgressions, they’d let go of their whole talk of love bullshit. Duncan had known for a long time he’d never get the chance to love anyone.
“Fuck.” Duncan stared at his reflection in the mirror. Nothing would change his mind.
As he stepped out of the bathroom, Enzo was leaning up against the wall, waiting for the door to open.
“Morning,” Enzo mumbled before pressing a kiss to Duncan’s lips. He then sleepily stumbled into the space, barely closing the door in his rush.
“Morning,” Duncan replied, confused by the open affection. He glanced back, chiding himself for being a pervert. Yet, he also couldn’t take his eyes off the man. His gaze lingered on Enzo’s thin muscular frame and the way his shorts were slung low on his hips. He had his hands all over Enzo the night before, and his palms itched to touch the man again.
Don’t form attachments, boyo.
He crossed to the closet and opened it, grabbing his clothes for the day. He yanked the towel from his hips then placed it in the hamper. After he tugged on his jeans, he went to the kitchen to start the coffee and make food. They were in for a long conversation filled with secrets he hadn’t told anyone, not even Thomas. His partner knew aspects about his life, but not all of it. Hell, he didn’t think he could give up those details ever. But, he wasn’t the stupid kid he’d been twenty years ago.
Bella’s yawn drew his attention. She stretched her arms wide over her head, unashamed of the naked body she so boldly showed. “Morning.” Her husky voice was like a glass of his favorite scotch, smooth with a hint of smoke. His cock thickened and throbbed, pressing against the fly of his jeans.
He smirked. His gaze traveled along her lush curves as she slipped out of bed. “Morning. Leave it. I’ll take care of it later.”
“Are you sure?” She sat on the edge of the bed, watching him.
“Yes.” He held up the bag of bagels. “Want your bagel toasted?” He made no attempt to hide his Irish accent.
“Yes, please,” she said before pulling on Enzo’s discarded t-shirt from last night. Pity. “I thought Omar was bringing breakfast.”
Duncan placed her bagel into the oven and turned it on. “Change of plans. He’ll be here around noon. If there’s something specific you or Enzo want, let me know and I’ll have him get it on the way.” He gestured to one of the two stools on the other side of the small island in the kitchen.
